A Short Tribute to Komla Dumor

Komla Dumor’s death and the circumstances surrounding it, may carry with it a power of oration like never before.

Komla Dumor’s death and the circumstances surrounding it have the power to create a revolution like never before.

Komla Dumor’s death, and the circumstances surrounding it have the power to charge up a generation, like never before.

A new breed of African voices – journalists, healthcare providers, public administrators, leaders, students, followers, countrymen, women –The stage is set. A vacuum created. And all death screams to us is, “What do you see? What have you always dreamed of? Now go do it”. For time and chance wait for no man…or woman. A dear friend highlighted to me today, all the sudden losses of African icons in a seeming span of months – Mandela, Achebe, Awoonor and now Dumor. I am positive now that perhaps their sudden deaths have the power to accomplish even more than their lives. If only we’ll all take a moment to reflect. Dig a little deeper. Read their legacies. Pray for such inspiration. And believe same too, perhaps we too will give ourselves a chance at a life well-lived. Kpodola, mouth of the people, in days when gongs have long been silenced … Ah but you didn’t inform your clansmen of this one oh! Your countrymen will be restless tonight…and deservingly so! While you, you Kaletor… sleep easy and broadcast our triumphs & tribulations in yonder-land.Nante yie, Damirifa due.
