Ebola

A week ago or so, an offensive article was published in the Yale Daily News – http://yaledailynews.com/blog/2014/10/29/stem-the-tide-of-ebola/

Lots of people on campus reacted to the stigmatisation and fear-mongering this piece presents.

A friend of mine and I decided to offer a rebuttal to this piece, by writing this article for the Yale Herald Newspaper – http://yaleherald.com/op-eds/spreading-fear-spreading-ebola/

We recognize that presenting counter-narratives are one of the most powerful ways to combat stigma.

  1. Thanks, Metty, for this well-written response. I am moderating a panel tomorrow on Confronting Ebola Hysteria. I’ve attached a brief description as well as a statement by African Studies Center Directors and a great article by Paul Zeleza. He is close by (at Quinnipiac) and you should invite him to talk.

    All best wishes,

    Ann
